Gourd art by Lori Allen
I began carving gourds after attending my hometown of Carmi, Illinois' fall festival, Corn Day, in October 2006. I was so intrigued by a lady's gourds featured in the artisan fest that I kept going back to her stand and eventually ordering one. When she delivered the gourd, we struck up a conversation and she told me all about gourds and her art. So I gave gourd art/craft a try and here I am. I am so grateful I met Alice Ewan, she was truly an inspiration.
All of my gourd art/craft is sealed, numbered and signed.
I only use dyes and stains using the natural beauty of the gourd making baskets, bowls, vases, nightlights, pumpkins, etc. The only thing that will be painted on a gourd will be the inside of lighted gourds or unless requested.
Birdhouses can be done upon request, but the sun does not like the stains and dyes.
Check out my galleries. I have several pieces for sale and do take orders.
Custom orders are available.
New items are added to the 2009 gallery all the time. So keep checking back.
And thank you for visiting.
Enjoy!
